Negotiated Study 1- Coloured Sprites 6

All my character sprites are now done, and will be shrunk down to the correct resolution. For the next part of the project however, I'm taking a break from animation, and focusing on doing the backgrounds and concept art.

I'm nearing the end of my production with the sprites. Only two remain (Bunty and Bryant) and after some careful consideration, I have decided to retain their hand-drawn style after shrinking them to resolution. I was in the process of converting Grace's animation into a full 'pixelized' sprite, and I realised that it wasn't viable to do them all in this fashion as it would take too long. I will carry on with Grace's sprite however to demonstrate that I can handle sprite art, but the rest will be finished as they are. However, this option seems to be quite popular in today's world, where sprites are fully hand-drawn and unedited, such as those in Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion for Nintendo 3DS.

Negotiated Study 1- Coloured Sprites 1

As now the sprites have their outlines completely done, it's time for colouring the frames. Once the colouring has been done, they will be shrunk to actual pixel size and worked into to highlight details and finished the frame off. Today, I have recoloured Grace's animation and this has been shrunk down to the right resolution.

Negotiated Study 1- Sprite Animations Practice 5

I've now finished the last of my sprites. The next step is colouring each frame with detail before shrinking them down to the final size.

Portfolio and Shop Links

As I now have portfolios online on both Carbonmade and Dropr, I'm reposting links for anyone who is interested. I have also started an online shop on Etsy to sell my artwork as well as other tidbits like keyrings and charms.

Negotiated Study 1- Sprite Animations Practice 2

I've done some more of my practice animations. Originally I thought of adding more keyframes to give them a smoother transition, but I feel that after some feedback from peers, it would actually be better if I tightened up the clean up as fighting game sprites don't require too many frames in the first place.

Negotiated Study 1- Sprite Animations Practice

I have been practicing the default animations of the characters in my fighting game, and have decided to base them on several fighting poses of the Mortal Kombat combatants. Their special move animations however will be unique. At the moment, I have three characters done in scratch graphics.

Shen-Te's pose, based on Mileena from Mortal Kombat II.
